Phil Says...

The Victoria brings back some pleasant memories for me as it was a photograph from here which won me the 'Wedding Photographer of the Year' award for Wales and the West of England from the British Institute of Professional Photography. It was a fun shot of the bride groom attempting to escape his fate by running from the hotel pursued by his best man, ushers and bride's maids (posed of course!). Joanna and Marc were great fun and I found I knew quite a few of the guests I went to school with in Newquay or knew through their association with the RNLI.
There's a nice spot at the rear of the Victoria which faces North and provides a great backdrop of coastal scenery all the way up towards Padstow. It's a view which makes the focal point of the raised area in the dining room too. The location is ideal for large group shots as there's a raised area easily accessible to the photographer and this also worked particularly well for Joanna and her 'throwing the bouquet' shot.
