Phil Says...

Situated just a few miles north of Newquay, Watergate Bay is home to Jamie Oliver's 'Fifteen' Restaurant and the Watergate Bay Hotel is just two minutes walk away from it. The Hotel has a fine reputation for quality in its own right though and is certainly a great place to get married. The reception room where you say your vows looks out over the beach and Atlantic Ocean so there is some lovely natural light streaming into the room to capture your special moment in colourful detail.

We had a great time photographing Laura and Dominic at the Watergate Bay Hotel where they tied the knot and spend some time on the wide expanse of surfing beach just below and accessible by private steps from the hotel. There were some lovely moments and some fun ones too with Phil persuading the pair to climb, barefoot, onto a rock surrounded by water for an iconic beach wedding shot – the results were worth it! There really is something about this beach which makes it very special – even when there is a bit of mist, it adds to the romanticism of the photo.
